Mate with 6 knights

I came across a funny game that GM Hikaru Nakamura played against a computer that simply would not resign. The computer Beast, on the ICC, is a computer that randomly uses Rybka, Shredder, or Zappa.

Upset - Round 5 - Lansing City Championship

The final round of the Lansing City Championship proved to be an exciting one. Tony Nichols ended up with four out of five points. Four players had three points, but two of us were in the reserve section. Ray Garrison ended up beating Seth Homa on tie breaks, so Ray took second place over all. David Sundeen and I finished in second and first place, respectively, in the reserve section.

Jacob Fortuna, who finished with two and a half, lost his game to Tony, giving Tony the four points needed to win. I scored against Ray Garrison, which is the upset this round.

In my preparation for this game against Ray, I was looking for something to play against his Leningrad Dutch defense. I came across some material on a very nice system in which white plays a very early pawn storm on the queen side.

I was quite pleased with my first victory in which opening preparation for a specific opponent played a role.
